The Risk Of Love

The Grant Study has followed the lives of more than 250 Harvard graduates for 70 years to learn what makes people happy. It revealed that positive emotions make us more vulnerable than negative ones— in part because they expose us to rejection and heartbreak. One man had received a box of 100 loving letters from his patients when he retired from practicing medicine. Eight years later he proudly showed the box to a researcher and began to cry, “I don’t know what you’re going to make of this, but I’ve never read [them].”

“Being loved” is hard for many of us. We need courage to open ourselves to receive love from others. Because we—and they—are sinful, misunderstanding and rejection is always a possibility. It’s tempting to retreat into our castle and pull up the drawbridge. There we’ll be safe from the dangers of heartbreak, but we’ll also be distanced from the pleasures of love—how it feels to be fully known and still embraced.

What if true love is found in the very place we most deserve to be rejected? John explains, “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love . . . that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins” (1 John 4:9-10).

God’s love expels fear as light scatters darkness, for “If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love” (v.18).

The One who knows you best, loves you most. You can trust the God who hung on the cross for you. When you are secure in the grip of His love, you can open yourself to others. “We love each other because he loved us first” (v.19).  —Mike Wittmer

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear (v.18).

Read Ephesians 3:14-21 to learn what happens when we begin to grasp the infinite wonder of Jesus’ love.

How might God’s loving embrace enable you
to accept the risk of rejection? With whom do you need to take that risk today?

Temptations We Face

This is the last snack I’m going to eat today, you tell yourself. Then 5 minutes later you’re looking for another one! Michael Moss, in his book Salt Sugar Fat, reveals how food companies study ways to “help” people crave junk food. Some of the food industry’s biggest names hire “crave consultants” to determine people’s “bliss points”—the conditions when food companies can optimize consumers’ cravings. One popular company spends $30 million a year to determine the bliss points of consumers.

Just as there are crave consultants who can cause us to long for junk food, there’s a spiritual “crave consultant” studying believers in Jesus—trying to direct, shape, and distort their desires toward things that aren’t good for spiritual health (1 Corinthians 10:6). His name is Satan.

Satan is the chief force behind temptations that believers face. He tempted Adam and Eve to crave independence from God and incited them to shatter shalom (Genesis 3:1). He encouraged David to crave power by relying more on military capabilities than trusting the power of God (1 Chronicles 21:1). If believers don’t nurture intimacy in their marriages, Satan encourages them to crave satisfaction outside the marital union (1 Corinthians 7:5). He’s the world’s most cunning crave consultant, using money, power, lust, and pride to entice believers to reach the bliss point of sin and spiritual bondage.

We can resist Satan’s overtures by memorizing God’s Word (Matthew 4:4), watching and praying (26:41), remembering that God is faithful, and believing that He will deliver us from temptation. Our God will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13). —Marvin Williams

The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful.
He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand (v.13).

Read Matthew 4:1-11 to see how Jesus resisted temptation.

Today I feel very hopeful and blessed.I have such great faith that everything is going to be good this day and everyday after with the love of GOD.You have to go through some trials and tribulations, but GOD said he would be there walking with me.I call it building your faith and self worth. You have to know that you are worthy of the good things in life even when all you see is the ugly things in this world. You don't have to see him to know he is with you.

One day at a time with its failures and fears,?

With its hurts and mistakes, with it weakness and tears,

With its portion of pain and its burden of care.

One day at a time we must meet and must bear.

One day at a time to be patient and strong,?

To be calm under trial and sweet under wrong.

Then its toiling shall pass and its sorrow shall cease,?

It shall darken and die, and the night shall bring peace.

One day at a time—but the day is so long,

And the heart is not brave, and the soul is not strong.

So I decide to go downtown to the art show.Every year there is this show called Artprize, you get to vote on what you think is the best.Someone will win 20,000 the grand prize 200,00.I couldn't see everything, this some of what got to see.please enjoy ,it was nice to see the different art.

Attitude is important

Did I forget to say I'm a deli clerk.I love my job because I meet a lot of people and get to give my on life and food habits. My sister told me one day that all I do is talk about food.I told her that I had a habit and I had to feed it.Some think I'm funny because I make them laugh.I just couldn't see people buying something from some one who has a attitude or mad that they have to work.I think people deserve respect .If a person don't like their job they should not take it out on other people. These people are the people that pays their salary and help keep them with a job.I remember working with a young man and he was told to sweep the floor,he got upset saying he was not hired to sweep the floor.I tried to explain to him that in order to keep his job,he had to learn that there are things he had to do no matter what it was, this is life. Some days I feel like the ringmaster, keep everybody laugh and making the job go smoothly. My day is complete when someone comes in to tell me that they came in to see me and tell me something I said made their day. Some times I don't remember what I said but I remember their faces.

Some time I tell people to my neighborhood Family Fare where you are the star and i'm the puppet .They get to tell me what they a want and I will sing and dance just for them, and I really do sometimes sing and dance for them. That's what makes me happy ,making other peoples day.

Please be blessed and have a good day
